Based on CS Pierce’s three sign categories, my banner includes symbolic signs such as the purple colour of ‘Media Studies’ which also links to the purple in the ‘Instagram’ logo. Iconic signs are the iPhone, the Magazines and the Newspaper. An indexical sign in my banner is the background which represents many different media forms and people who work with media, it gives an insight into the different connotations of the word ‘Media’.
My banner is made up of iconic, indexical and symbolic signs according to CS Pierce. For example, the entire banner has many symbolic signs such as the different shades of the colour blue, and other colours in the social media logo icons.
The social media icons above the word ‘studies’ is an indexical sign as it has a link to the study of media, likewise the speech bubbles, microphone and signal icons.
An example of an iconic sign in my banner would be the picture of the phone- it looks like its object. The signal icon and the microphone could be argued as iconic signs too, as they are pictures that look like its object.
I wrote my article to show how not getting good GCSE grades won’t stop you from getting the job you want. The person I interviewed stated that they didn’t get many GCSEs and have broken the norm that toy need it get GCSE, my article was written to show how the idea of this is wrong and how you are able to do what you want to do. It was also written to get the point across that you are still able to make a living with little qualifications.
My style model was based off the JEP newspaper. I looked at how they layed out the newspaper and their use of images and the way they worded their articles Aswell as the iconic layout of the paper. I also looked at the font style they use and how they positioned tit and what kind of topics they spoke about.
The person I interviewed had a very radical opinion towards the topic, they believed that the media had created this false idea that not getting good GCSEs could lead to you not being able to make money and be stuck in a dead-end job. This idea is very different to what many people believe and their beliefs on this topic. They also stated how they were still able to get a good job and make enough to support a family even though they did not necessarily get the best grades that you could get at GCSE level.

I would have more closely followed my style model and look at the key aspects such as font and the placement of my pictures and other little details like such. i would also take the photo of the person I’m interviewing and
