For our radio production, we will be creating an hour long program which is on the discussion of The BBC. Within our show we will be playing music which is related to the BBC e.g. the Beatles as they were discovered on top of the pops (a BBC production). With help from the BBC website, we will be doing a brief time line of the BBC highlighting key points such as the world cup. We will be sourcing audio clips which are related to our topic of the BBC such as, audio from Apollo 11, queens coronation, commentary from England winning the world cup.
For this radio production, we wanted to express thanks and appreciation for the BBC for their 100 year anniversary. Our main goal was to spread awareness of some of the major news stories the BBC have reported on throughout the years, by playing some short snippets from the BBC archives, such as Apollo 11, Queen Elizabeth the 2nd coronation and D day landings broadcast. These major events in our history wouldn’t be known in such depth and emotion if the BBC didn’t report on them, therefore educating our listeners with their broadcasts and importance we hope to stick with the notion of their ethos, educate, inform and educate.
For this radio production, we wanted to focus on celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the BBC we wanted to introduce small snippets from the archives to reach out to those who perhaps haven’t heard those audios before and educate them further into what it was like to be hearing that for the first time on live radio.
We made a plan for our radio including what we would be talking about and the topics we would be covering. We played songs which we thought related to the BBC ranging from Band Aid- Do they know its Christmas, Bitter sweet symphony, ABBA, The Beatles, Elton john, Oasis. We gave important dates in which events happened which helped the audience with understanding. Oasis was a very well known Brit pop band in the 90s which was relevant to play relating to the 100 year BBC anniversary. Our main goal was solely to just spread awareness to the audience to how the BBC has developed through the year sand how its goals and aims have adapted to time changes.
