NEA (SET BRIEF – number 6)
Produce a LIVE hour long radio show on the topic of ‘100 Years of the BBC: WHAT NEXT? OR WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF RADIO AND TELEVISION BROADCASTING?’ (you need to include talk, music, archive sound and news)
Use this l.ink to BBC Timeline to help generate some ideas
Please note:
- You need to record your programme live in the radio studio IN WEEK 4 OF THIS HALF TERM
- You will record your programme live, BUT you can ‘fly in’ sections of your report (jingle, live or recorded report) via a pre-recorded slot.
You have 5 days to complete the following set brief. You can work in a small group. You must use the radio studio to record your programme ‘live’, BUT you will need to prepare all of your material first.
It is unlikely that recordings will take place during lesson time as radio broadcasts are structured around 24 hour clock (and not a school timetable). So use your lessons to plan, prepare and become familiar with the production process. You can also use your lessons for coursework production (if you need to improve your NEA coursework).
Look at the Hautlieu radio broadcast schedule and identify your hour slot – remember that you can be flexible in terms of who presents or even who is present for your hour (ie someone could start the show, someone else could finish it). Remember also that you are asked to produce the show – not necessarily present it.
It is expected that you will produce an hour long programme, as such, you will need to:
- record your programme on the Myriad radio system
- Export your programme from Myriad to Soundcloud
- Embed your Soundcloud export into your blog – to do this follow this link to find your programme from our track list on soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/hautlieu-school/tracks or possibly from our Spotify account: https://open.spotify.com/show/6zhcEz3lcZgiNs1uYSlasm
- Write a statement of intent for your show (1 x per group) and paste in the same post as your show
- You will be assessed but this assessment will not carry any weighting for your overall grade.
SET BRIEF
Create a convincing, realistic and believable hour long radio programme that includes at least three minutes of audio news – to be broadcast at either the hour or the half hour mark in your show.
Your news package can be based on any news story that you feel is relevant to the local audience of the radio station. You could select:
- a local take on a national or international news story
- an investigative report on a local political or social story
- a report on a local event.
The programme summarises the main national and international news events of the day and features reports on the local impact of national and international news, local politics and events.
The target audience for your show is emanating from a local radio station that follows the BBC ethos of PSB. Your listeners have an interest in current affairs and their local area.
