‘The Killing’ is a Danish television series. In series 1, the narrative follows the police investigation into the murder of a young woman.

The first time that a TV series, not in the English language, became part of mainstream UK broadcasting. The Killing was produced the Danish national public service broadcaster. It was also a catalyst for a rise in interest for Scandinavian culture in the UK. It was a transnational and global context.
