Gorey Story Statement of Intent

My NEA is going to be an crime-action-genre-drama with a realistic modern adaptation that is about two brothers, one of which is kicked out by their mum at 15 while the other is 5, and then as one of them gets older they join a gang and their ops are from different postcodes, one being in St Helier and the other being in Grouville. During the climax of the “film”, there will be a scene where they get into an altercation in which they work out that they are brothers but they are also being pressured to kill each other by their brethren. I will be attempting to create empathy to make the whole scene more dramatic as they are both in an ultimatum but they don’t know what to do. Throughout the whole movie, there would be music from the UK rapper Digga D, as he raps about the life of crime and gang violence which relates to the two brothers’ situations. Digga D also has millions of followers on all social media platforms meaning he is well known in the industry; therefore by tying his name to the movie I will be attracting fans of Digga D which would end up being a huge percentage of overall viewers. If I then created my own songs and up to them in the movie and them made an album for the movie then I could make lots of earnings and gain free exposure by piggybacking Digga D‘s success. There will also be a website made which will be created months before the movie’s release which would include tweets, news clips, and Snapchat stories from characters in the movie, which will build up the drama and hype before the movie even comes out as well as allowing the film to start at a different point to most, as it will not need to spend as much time giving the context of previous events like most movies do. This website will be an innovative feature, new to the industry and so will hopefully turn heads and gain the movie external exposure from people who may otherwise not watch a gang action drama. My posters will stand out with big bold statements to attract eyes but not with loads of logos and branding. They will feature the two main characters’ side profiles giving a mysterious insight into the two gangbangers which the movie is about.
