Moonlight First Response

Moonlight-7/10

I have given Moonlight a 7/10 because sometimes I was lost in the film as I did not think it was clear to what had happened.

I did like the overall movie because it had a good story and the scenes I found beautiful. I also like the message the film was trying to get across to the audience of how hard it may be for a quiet gay kid living in a rough part of the city. It also shows the problems wit abuse and drugs in family’s. This links to the photo at the top of the screen as in the photo his mum had been shouting at her son and was on drugs. Later on in the movie you can see the effect on drugs for the mum.

Joker First Response

Joker- 2019 Todd Phillips

Rating-8/10

I gave the Joker an 8/10 as I very much enjoyed the storyline and build up towards the Jokers character. The pacing of the film felt slow at times with but me as an audience member was always hooked.

A memorable scene for me was when the Joker brutally stabbed his work mate in the eye and killed him In front of his other work mate after they came to comfort him. It showed the true change from Arthur Fleck to the Joker. It confirmed the transformation. Another memorable scene for me was when Arthur Fleck was following his neighbour through the city and the camera went from following Arthur to stationary and Arthur was fading into the distance.

Battleship Potemkin  Director: Sergei Eisenstein  release: December 21, 1925  I think this is a historically significant film because it outlines the impact of war. Especially because it was made not even 10 years after WW1.  The Seven Samurai  Director: Akira Kurosawa  Release date: April 26, 1954 As this is a Japanese film most western cinemas wont of shown it and it would be seen as an art form. The Breakfast Club Director: John Hughes Release date: February 15, 1985 It is about 5 different teenagers on a Saturday detention. As the day goes on their egos fade and they become good friends. This film attracts a mainstream audience.
Fitzcarraldo Director: Werner Herzog Release date: October 10, 1982 Personally I think that this is a historically significant film as it shows someone coming up through life with nothing and becoming rich off his own hard work.  The magnificent seven Director: Antoine Fuqua Release date: September 23, 2016  A film full of action. A wild west film shot only 8 years ago. I think that it is an art film as it shows the friendship between 7 cowboys as a brotherhood. Alphaville Director: Jean-Luc Godard Release date: May 5, 1965  A film about a secret agent going into a small French town to find a murder case.
Love simon Director: Greg Berlanti Release date: March 16, 2018 If this movie was made before being gay was normal and accepted in society it would have been a historically significant film.
