Mandy Barker ~ Biography

Mandy Barker is an international award winning photographer who is British. She is mostly known for her work with marine plastics from the ocean, and has worked alongside scientists to try and bring awareness to the amount of plastic that is being used. Mandy Barkers photography consists of plastic marine debris transformed into alluring pieces of art and the photographs taken make the viewers discover an underwater world.

What inspired Mandy Barkers Photography?

The ever growing problem of plastic on the UK coastline and just how much of an issue its causing for the environment. She was inspired to use the plastic from the oceans in her photography to create a montage of images from the plastic that she collected.

Mandy Barkers photography relates to the theme of Anthropocene as the use of plastic and materials found by the beach is making people aware of the problem of Plastic Pollution and is giving a solution to clear it off the beaches to turn it into something beautiful.

Image Analysis

The colours in this image are quite bright but there is also a mix of dark colours which make the lighter brighter colours stand out more and attracts your eye to the image. The texture of this image is rough and the textures are all different which makes the image look more appealing. The layout of this image also draws your eye to the photo because of the size difference in the objects that are used, this makes your eye follow the lines of the photo.
