My photoshoot was inspired by Justin Kurland I tried to recreate her images but add a personal twist to the shoot.
Justin Kurland – My Image
I decided to compare these images because of the idea that girls are in the grass playing with flowers and doing girly things. They are also similar in the fact that there faces are not in the image and and looking away from the camera. This shows they are in the moment and having fun.
This photo shoot was inspired by Justine Kurland and her girls pictures, these photos are my interpretations to her photos.
The differences between mine and Justine Kurlands work within these two photos is that all the women in her photo are all facing forward or sideways compared to mine they all have there backs towards the photo.
Within these two photos i believe this shows the unison of females and the connection that we all have with my photo this is shown by the braiding of the hair which everyone is doing linking them all together, in Justine Kurlands photos the connection is show but a girl placing a leech on the other girls back, a place where she cant reach.
I wanted my image to have a light effect on it, in some of my images this happened naturally, however, I wanted it on this specific image as I feel it will work well.
I got this image off google :
I opened two pages , one with my image on, one with the effect on.
Then I dragged the effect layer onto my image.
I experimented with the opacity of the effect layer, so it appeared more natural to the image.
I tried different angles on the picture until I found a way I liked.
This is the final outcome. I like the outcome as it has a warm tone and gives the effect that it was shot on a film camera.
I edited this photo by using Lightroom classic my aim when i was editing this photo was to make it look more vibrant, brighter and to add more depth due to the weather conditions of the day i took the photos it was cloudy making everything look a lot more dull, there for i turned the shadows up to add the depth and then turned the vibrance and the saturation up to give it a more brighter and vibrant look.
With this image i didn’t like how bright it was there for i turned the exposure down to eliminate the white cast as much as i could and then turned the vibrance up to make the weather appear more sunny and vibrant.
I chose to turn this photo into black and white to show off the texture of the jeans and emphasise the shadows and highlights on the hands and jewellery.
With this image when i was taking it i made it so the girls were slightly off centre there for making the viewer take in and look at the other surroundings of the image including the focal point.
I have created a virtual gallery which shows off my best images from the entire portrait project and displays them grouped in the way that I think works the best and compliments each other.
