hamptonne objects

I selected my best images through using the p and x method to flag them then I made sure to select the best possible images using the staring system.

I then went into develop mode and adjusted the WB and the exposure and contrast till I was happy with the images. I exported the final images into the media drive in a blog friendly size.

hamptonne interiors

First I selected my images using p and x and then used a staring system to select the best images in more depth.

Then I went into develop mode and began the editing process by adjusting the white balance and the shadows and highlights to give a feel of the heritage that the interior of the buildings have.

I repeated this process 2 more times for the other images until I was happy with the final composition.

Final Images

hamptonne portraits

First I flagged my images using p and x and stared them using the starring system. I then selected 4 portraits that where rated 4 starts or more to edit into final images.

Then I went into develop mode and adjusted the white balance and the exposure and contrast in order to refine the image.

when I was happy with my editing I exported the image into the media drive in the size x1000.

I then repeated this for the remaining 3 images

hamptonne editing

For these individual images I took at hamptonne, I have increased the cool tones and warm tones to set different visuals on the photos. For others i have edited the brightness and highlights to change the mood of the image creating different perceptions.

Hamptonne Final Images – Portraits

During the Hamptonne visit, I took several portrait photographs of different actors portraying people from the 17th Century.

This is a contact sheet of a few of the portrait images I took during the trip
These are the unedited versions of the final portrait images

I chose this image because I liked how the model was in motion as the picture was taken, I think it gives the image an interesting look. I chose to put this image in black and white because I thought that her apron would stand out in the image more, as well as making the shadows more defined. The model has been put into the middle-ground, which allows both her and the equipment to be of importance in the image. I like how this image’s background is darker and more complex than the model, it gives it a good contrast.

I chose this image because I liked how the model is well-lit, it allows the apple and her clothing to stand out even more. I definitely wanted this image in colour because the colour of the apple greatly contrasted with the rest of the image and provided a focal point. I think that this image looks like a painting, which to me, gives it a more calm feeling to it. The background of the image is very simple and dark compared to the model, which gives the image a good contrast.

I chose this image for similar reasons to the last one. This time the image seems even more calm, yet mysterious as the model is looking out of frame to the left. This image has very little colour which makes it look even more like a classic painting to me, the lack of colour also makes the image look more old-fashioned. I like the way the bottom of the image is filled with shadows, while the white of the models top stands out greatly, creating a contrast between the top and bottom halves of the images.

Ideas

Task plan 3 photoshoots one inside one outside and one with 2 or more people.

Photoshoot 1: For the inside photoshoot I will ask one of my friends if I can photograph them in their room. Lounging like they would do in their day to day life to give the image an intel into what they are like as a person. I will probably use a higher angle to include as much of the environment as possible.

Photoshoot 2: For the outside photoshoot I would like to take some photos in a cloudy environment of someone doing their job.

Photoshoot 3: For the two or more people shoot I will ask my friend if I can photograph her and her brother outside from either a canted angle or a lower angle to create a more dimensional photograph.

Newman’s best-known images were in black and white, although he often photographed in colour. His 1946 black and white portrait of Igor Stravinsky seated at a grand piano became his most well known, and signature image.

This portrait of a sailor on his boat sailing. This image is a perfect example of an environmental portrait, an image of a person in their own habitat.

All these photographs, I think are very good environmental portraits. they all tell a story of the subject and their environmental and incite on personality.
