Some of my favourite images:
I really like this image because I think it portrays Romanian youth culture pretty well, as well as the 90s/early 2000s. This is snapshot of table, but there’s a head blocking half of the image which I think makes it more interesting. The person can be seen talking on a brick phone and their face is quite bright due to the flash used. On the table there is a selection of phones, music cassettes, some fruit, an ash tray and bottles of beer. In Europe, a lot of children pick up smoking and drinking from a young age so it’s only natural for these items to be on the table. Beer is a very common drink in Romania and many can be found drinking it in the summer at any time of the day.
The thing that attracts me to this image are the bright colours. I really like the vivid yellow and red because I think he give the image more personality and make it pop. In this photograph two girls can be seen posing outside of a photo printing shop (‘KODAK’ is written on the window) and looking at the camera. My mum is on the right and her friend on the left. The image was taken around the late 90s when my mum was 14/15 years old.
I think this image is very powerful due to the low angle it was taken at. This makes the people in the image look like they’re looking down on the photographer, making them more superior. This image consist of 4 people in what it looks like to be a train or a subway (2 are sitting down on the left and 2 are standing on the right holding on to a rail). I really like the way they’re posing and what they are wearing as it makes the photograph look more interesting. for some reason, it looks like something out an old teenage magazine. ?
