nft project

NFT

NFT, Non-Fungible are used to authenticate images, or any object on the Internet. For example, you can freely download images from the canvas La Promenade de Monet, but there is only one original. An NFT can be used to certify that you have the original from Monet. Of course, art isn’t the only thing that NFTs could change on the Internet. The NFT will globally impact the notion of digital property. NTFs could be used to prove ownership of domain names, for video game items, but also physical objects.

A community of the future will celebrate diversity, equality and inclusion and propose a new digital world; a metaverse where everyone is equal regardless of class, race, gender and age. A digital ecosystem that transcends all virtual identities into a utopia for peace, prosperity and progress.

Feminism

For this project, in groups we made a brainstorm and a mind map to answer at the question of what is a community and how communities may change in the future. A community that we were exited to represent were women so we decided to base our NFT work around the subject of feminism. We produced a mood board presents communities of women fighting for our rights, role models that we can see in movies or in the real world. Is important that we show a world of equality, diverse and freedom in our group project. But for that we need to look at the history of feminism how did it started, who were the woman involve, how it is in our society now and how could it look in the future. For the animated video, we decided that it would be interesting to separate our video in three parts. The first is inspired by the artist Cindy Sherman, and it would be about how woman were represented media/movies at the time. After the second part we want to take inspiration from Clare Rae to show how women no longer want to be sexualized and be treated like objects so they hide their bodies from men. The final part is about gender equality, how now woman are free to show their bodies without being sexualised, accept diversity in woman…

Mood Board

This is our second mood board. It is based on the fact that many musicians help people come into their own skin. For example, many musicians want to change the social normalities such as men need to look masculine and women need to look feminine. Artists such as Yungblud, Damiano David (lead singer of Maneskin) and even David Bowie/ Ziggy Stardust.

Music also helps people express themselves and allows them to feel part of a community. This feeling of being in a community is especially strong when you attend a concert as everyone in the room has something in common. Most of the time you’ll meet someone new or even find someone who will watch out for you throughout the night.

NFT Tapestry

Bayeux Tapestry

The Bayeux Tapestry is an embroided cloth nearly 70 metres long by 50 centimetres tall that tells the story of the Norman conquest of England including William, Duke of Normandy, and Harold, Earl of Wessex, who became King of England, and battling at the Battle of Hastings.

It tells the story of the events surrounding the conquest of England in 1066 by the Duke of Normandy. Crossing the sea in longships, long cavalcades on horseback, shields and coats of mail, fantastic creatures and battlefields.

It is a prime example of 11th century Romanesque art, which was commissioned by Bishop Odo, William the Conqueror’s half-brother, to go in his newly-built cathedral in Bayeux in 1077.

As you can see in the image above, Lucy Poskitt emphasises geological formations, in this case a glacier. She makes use of very natural colours and contrasts dark with light creating drama found in photos in her textile art.

NFT

What are NFTs?

NFT stands for Non-fungible token. This means that you cannot re-sell it or exchange it for an asset of equal value

An NFT is a type of digital asset that can be bought or sold. Similar to cryptocurrency, the creator of the asset has its details “engraved” on the internet in a shared ledger known as blockchain. What this does is certify that the asset is legitimate, unique and non-interchangeable. These NFTs can be used to represent photos, videos, films, art, and more. It can be seen as a way to sell digital files.

NPR states that:

“..you are also purchasing a kind of bar code, almost a certificate of authenticity that serves as proof that a certain version of something is uniquely yours”

“Take CryptoPunks, pixelated avatars that have fetched millions of dollars. Sure, you could download one of the alien avatars, but collectors would not consider it authentic. A real alien CryptoPunk costs, on average, $900,000.”

What is an NFT?

NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token representing a digital
file/item. A token is an object built on the Blockchain, non fungible means unique. Any digital file can be turned into an NFT, such as music, art, and sports. NFT’s allow for a creator to create and sell their work independently without the need for a manager , client or institution. A creator will receive a percentage of their product sold within the secondary market if their product is sold on.

What is the Metaverse?

The Metaverse is a virtual twin of our physical world, it is also the total amount of all the digital assets that live on the web and on the blockchain, creating a digital ecosystem. The Metaverse is a collective virtual shared space, created by the convergence of virtually enhanced physical reality and physically persistent virtual space, including the sum of all virtual worlds, augmented reality, NFTs and the Internet.

What will the future of Jersey look like as a community in the metaverse?

  1. Diverse, Inclusive, Intelligent
    1. I think the future of Jersey in the metaverse will be more inclusive as a community
    1. I think the future of Jersey will be a lot more diverse and inclusive within the metaverse. This is because class and social status are completely irrelevant in the metaverse, therefore everyone is free to be who they want to be without judgement or restriction. I think the metaverse will be a safer place for younger generations because the rates of oppression such as racism and sexism will be lower as everyone in the metaverse would be equal.

NFT community project

The project we are completing is about NFT’s (non fungible-token) and once in groups we have to create a 30 second video and still image in groups. The NFT’s will be produced and sold using a crypto currency known as Ethereum. The NFT project is part of the 2Lives exhibition project in St Helier. The Question we are basing our NFT projects on is below.

What will the future of Jersey look like as a community in the metaverse?

For the NFT group project, we got into groups of 4 and started thinking and putting ideas onto a piece of paper. We then turned the ideas into a mind map which is shown below. The mind map is about different communities and how they are everywhere in everyday life.

Mind Map

Me and my group created a mind map about community. We suggested large community groups of online which includes video games. Also we included students which links to school, class and friend groups. We added local community which links in with race and religion and the socially diverse communities filled with people from different places of different religions, races and languages. We added photography as we are part of the Hautlieu school photography community as well as the Jersey, UK and world photography community. Next we have music which links to listening to music at concerts, festivals and at home or with others and performing in front of people in person or online. Finally we have sports which links to watching your favourite team, country and player or playing it with family or friends casually or playing professionally for a team or country. Communities are extremely important for finding and spending time with people who share the same interests, hobbies or passions for the same thing you do. Communities can be with people of the same race, religion or language aswell as being with people who share passion for sports, music or even video games.

Mood Board

Below we created a mood board of different things we think will work well in relation to the NFT project. We gathered images showing connection through social media and the internet over different places in the world. We also added photos of a movie called Ready Player One which is about video games and how they real life is Dystopian where people worry about overpopulation and problems however once they are in the “Oasis” they leave all of their problems behind. They go from being in a Dystopian reality to a Utopian one in which they can be whoever they want, do whatever they want how they want to. The Oasis takes over their life and distracts them from their own lives. We gathered photos of VR (virtual reality) as it will be referenced in our nft final product.

Statement of Intent

As a group, we are looking at the theme of community in reference to an online vs offline persona. This links to the idea of a singular person living two lives in two different worlds.

What will the future of Jersey look like as a community in the metaverse?

3 words Diverse, futuristic and advanced

A sentence – Jersey will be both advanced and diverse with people coming from different backgrounds creating communities to express themselves.

A paragraph – Jersey will provide space for people who come from different places, speak different language and believe in what they want to express themselves as they want. It is both futuristic and modern with a constant temperature and futuristic technologies. People will use screens instead of connecting in person as life has changed and people can do everything from their homes.

Content – How will you make your film?

Our 30-second film will be very visual, so we will be using mostly photo and video responses, video recordings, animation, analogue/ digital montages to create a story about the online and offline community of St Helier. The use of audio and sound effects would be impactful to exaggerate actions in the video, and possibly some loyalty free music. We plan to animate some parts of the video to represent the online world, where as the other half we plan to meet up and record some scenes based off the storyboard

NFT Research

An Introduction to NFTs

An NFT, meaning ‘Non Fungible Token’, is in essence a online certificate of ownership over a product whether it be a piece of art, music or any digital file on the Blockchain. This allows people to share, trade and transport these NFTs through the metaverse. The metaverse is a virtual universe in which all online resources and products, such as the internet, augmented reality, NFTs and more, are in a shared space. This new platform allows new opportunities for artists and creators, due to them being able to manage the trading of their work, without being held back from their artistic voice by regulations. Furthermore, when an artist piece of work is resold through the metaverse, the artist is rewarded a percentage of the profits, due to tracking on the Blockchain.

2LIVES

With this technology, 2Lives has been created with the aim of educating people in Jersey of the opportunities that NFTs can offer to creative minds, students and any interested in the trading and collecting of creative works. This goal has been translated into a exhibition within the metaverse, by Francesco Vincenti and Claudia Runcio, allowing the people of Jersey an opportunity to grow with this new wave of creative technology. Furthermore, 2Lives also is a way of connecting two very prominent aspects of the island, finance and art, through business opportunities as well as creative ones.
