For my final images I want to alter my portraits in the style of motion portraiture as I think it symbolizes a loss of identity. The blurred portrait represents the loss of identity and possibly the unseen lifestyles people live. Whereas, the portrait thats focused represents their real identity and whats seen in their life.

Studio lighting is broken down into two categories, continuous and flash lighting. Continuous lighting means that the light source is kept on and you can power them up and down based on how much light you need for your shoot. Flash lighting is an artificial light produced from a flash to help illuminate a dark scene.
Fill light is any source of light that lightens areas of shadow created by other lights. Usually fill light is used to lighten the shadows created by the main light.
Key lighting – The key light is the first and usually most important light that a photographer will use in a lighting setup. The purpose of the key light is to highlight the form of the subject.
Fill lighting – In photographic lighting a fill light may be used to reduce the contrast of an image to capture the same amount of detail typically seen by eye in average lighting and considered normal.
lee friedlanderis an American photographer and artist from the 1960s and 70s. Lee evolved an influential and often imitated visual language of urban social landscape, with many of his photographs including fragments of store-front reflections, structures framed by fences, posters and street signs.
This is a black and white urban candid photograph. The black and white in this image creates strong contrasts, the black on the woman’s dress creates a strong contrast with the white zebra crossing on the road. The use of the strong contrast really allows the people to stand out and helps create a focal point for the image. This image also follows the rule of thirds as the large man on the right side of the image in on the two right intersecting focal lines. This photograph also has a sense of depth as it shows the people in the front but there is also a large group of people in the back that are also in focus.
This was my favorite image out of my shoot and also my selected edits as it reflected Lee Friedlander work the most and was the one I was most happy with. This setting was perfect as the reflection from the building behind and myself where clear and it contrasted well with the mountains and the manicans in the shop window.

This is a black and white candid photography of a man sleeping. This photography heavily falls under the rule of thirds as the man is one of the 4 intersecting lines on the bottom right of the image, this is supported by the fact we are attracted straight to the man as it is the first thing we focus on when looking at this image. This is a very dark image but there is also a strong contrast between the mans dark clothes and the whites on his clothes allowing the man to stand out more in the image. The lighting is soft and dim as there the picture is still very dark but the one side of his face that we are able to see is lit up meaning that there is a source of dim lighting within this image. I really like this image as this image creates a story for the viewer as to what life was like back in the 1930s.
