What is Media?

Media is a method of communication that can be used to promote things and is used to reach people all over the world. Media is also technology and is used when producing/making films or tv shows etc.

What is Media Studies?

Media Studies is the study of different types of media such as magazines, newspapers, advertisements and more. Different types of media are needed as it helps to reach a larger range of people and different people read or look at different things. Every type of media is different and is used for different purposes. You also learn skills and can prepare you to work in the media industry.

What is the point of Media Studies?

The point of Media Studies is to make people more aware of what actually goes on behind the scenes and people can have a higher understanding of how media actually works or how magazines/newspapers are made. For example if you were an entrepreneur then you would want to know how to make your product appealing to the target market and want to advertise your product.

Why I took Media?

I took media studies as i would like to learn more about how media can make people believe certain things I would also like to learn how to use Photoshop as it is something I’ve never used before.

I’m on this course because I want to know more about how to examine media language e.g. why headlines are written like they are.

Also I want to learn how to compare how the different types affect the public differently.

Media is the main means of mass communication (broadcasting, entertainment and the internet) this can be through; TV, magazines, advertisement, social media etc…..

What is Media studies?

Media Studies is the study of mass media, it deals with the content, history and effects of various media.
You also study the extent of the multiple forms of media and how they use effects and language to appeal to a target audience and how they persuade and have a personal connection with the audience.

What things do I want to learn during Media Studies?

During media studies I want to learn:

• Improve my camera knowledge and learn the uses of all the camera settings.
• I would like to learn how to use Photoshop to a high level, so I can manipulate my images.
• I would like to learn how producers of music videos, magazines and TV programs use emotive language and actions to connect with their audience and make them interested with the product.
