- COLONIALISM – the policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically.
- POST COLONIALISM – academic study focusing on the human consequences of the control and exploitation of colonized people and their lands.
- DIASPORA – the dispersion or spread of people from their homeland.
- BAME – UK slang that refers to minorities (asian, hispanic etc).
