Hidden Figures

The movie ‘Hidden Figures’ was a low-medium budget film, it cost $25,000,000. The film was produced by: Fox 2000 Pictures, Chernin Entertainment, Levantine Films and TSG Entertainment. Fox 2000 is a sister company of Fox that produces indie films in mid-range releases that target undeserved groups.

The idea of the film may have appealed to Fox because it had potential to be a profit film as well as the fact that if they lost money, they wouldn’t be losing as much as they would if it was a high budget film. The film overall made a huge worldwide profit of $236 million which is an 844 percentage increase.

Another reason that they may have liked the idea of the film was because it strongly went against dominant ideology of the time. In the time period ,that the movie was set in, black women working for NASA was not usually promoted in a male dominated profession. This is so they could attract specific viewers (in this case black people) as they are the target audience.
