L cuts – as caracter A continues their dialogue the scene cuts to character B, this helps the viewers hear the dialogue while also seeing the reaction of character B
J cuts- This is the opposite of the L cut, with this technique the viewer hears the dialogue from characteer A but only sees character B on screen (this provides emotional information and context) then cuts back to character A
Editing: The art of editing allows the filmmakers to bring the final product to the audience, without the audience knowing about any of the imperfections. While editing, the editor puts together various shots to produce a sequence, these sequences will then be put together in order to create a film.
an extreme close up is a shot that is focused on capturing the subjects emotion and not the background, this is often focused on the characters eyes to show emotion.
panoramic shot
this shot can be used in the begining of the film as an establishing shot to show where the film is set and the background it can also give an insight to.
close up (CU)
a close up shot can be used to show the peoples emotions and the background to show the characters facial features while also displaying the background.
i think that next time planning and organisation before hand will be very helpful as our group weren’t as prepared with story boards and so on, I also think planning where we would film before hand so we could book it would be helpful.
i think learning how to use a camera more will be more helpful next time as the camera work was shaky. I think the different types of shots was well however the execution of filming wasn’t as good as I hope it would be.
Using a high angle shot on a character can make the character seem vulnerable and weak as the audience is looking down at the character and they are looking up.
low angle shot
Using a low angle shot on a character or characters can make them seem more powerful and strong because the audience has to physically look up to the characters, this is an opposite shot to the low angle shot and they have opposite effects on the audience.
birds eye view
This is an angle from directly above the characters and can show the entire background, This angle can also make the characters look small and insignificant
worms eye view
this angle is positioned below a character and makes the audience have too look up to the characters, this is similar to the low shot but more extreme, this angle can make the character look strong and powerful.
dutch tilt
This angle in a film can be a bit disorientating and can make the audience feel as if something isnt right, this angle is made by positioning the camera on a tilt instead of straight.
