Original Caligari Character

The story of film- the hollywood dream
Why was DW Griffiths film Birth of a Nation so successful when it was released in 1915 and why is it so controversial now?
The first 3 hour long film which was the longest of its day made it successful however it portrayed black people in negatively such as being unintelligent, sexually aggressive and presented the KKK as a heroic group. most of the actors where white dressing up. High production values and 12 film roles that where changed throughout the film.
Who were Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin and are they still considered to be a great cinema practitioners? Name at least one film made by each director.
Sir Charlie Chaplin was a famous English comic actor who become popular in the silent era of film. His break through film is “The Tramp” (1914)

Reflection of Creative Work
C. Reflection on collaboration in the core production team (8 marks ) REFLECTION The post where you assess what you have learned and what you’ll do next time.
Overall I believe that our ability emulates the standard of beginners because Of how jumpy the editing feels, continuity mistakes such as the phone changing hand and the pace we worked at. At the beginning we had so many ideas that we tried to film as much as we can (which is a positive thing) so then we had multiple angles for editing so that any mistakes can be replaced by another clip from another angle as well as preventing the viewer from becoming bored and tired from the same angle and shot for 1 minute. Breaking the rules by crossing the line helped eliminate this issue buy keeping the readers attention from showing a side on to frontal view from different ranges using different editing techniques such as cut on cue. I would have liked to use the same audio across the whole of the screen play using an J cut but the lines where mixed up with different hand actions and timing meaning that it wouldn’t make sense so in the future we should keep the the same lines consistently when filming. In this project I have learned to work as a team rather then as an individual gathering experience on how to work with others to learn and improve in all areas such as acting, cinematography, directing and editing.

As others Brokers bark into phones, Jordan sits, phone

A few of the other Brokers glance over, eavesdropping.

Justification of Creative Work/Pre Production
Justification of creative work in one chosen film production role (8 marks ) INQUIRY The post on why you chose the screenplay you worked on.
In our screen play my group attempted to re create the phone scene from the “Wolf of Wall Street” when Jordan single handed gets an investment using sales techniques to create money for the company with our twist on it with less swearing at a low budget. We will purposefully cross the line to shake up the audience using cinematography just like the secondary characters who are shocked in the background after they make an investment. We will film inside a cramped office to replicate the amount of space available in their business with the shear scale of their enterprise. In the beginning of the short clip we aim to glorify the main character by watching his movements and seeing an extra move out of the way for him as he leaves the lift which shows power and dominance. As a group (me, Cianan and Bradley) decided that Brad would be the best to play Leonardo Di Caprio as he has acting experience and would be able to re create the required accent of an American. I then played the director creating ideas such as the lift shot and changing the angle. Cianan then acted as cinematographer using different angles in the confined spaces and using chairs as a steady cam. To keep this film family friendly we want to change some of the script to remove swear words and make some alterations to the script so we can keep the scene within a one minute timeline or anything suitable.
