A spectrum of the Arts
The performance Arts – My example of a performance arts is a live piece of theatre. In live piece of theatre, the performance is happening in real time which is what makes it a Performance art.
Representational Arts – My example for Representational arts is a comic book. For example, the famous Beano comics. Also, another form of representational art is a novel or a fictional story book for example the beats quest book collection which has various illustrations of characters and setting in the book.
The Recording Arts – My example for a recording art would be any sort of film or video form which provides a more direct path between subject and observer. Also, music is a recording art. An example of these would be a film “Forrest Gump”.
Blurred the boundaries – a film that blurs the boundaries would be one that have more than just one of the art forms above within it. For example, a film that would have not just the recording arts aspect but also the performance art. An example of this would be a play that turned into a film or a film that turned into a play afterwards like Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Greese, An Inspector Calls, Romeo and Juliet etc. There are also forms of recording arts that have blended with representation arts such as, Maze Runner, The Hunger games, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter. The list goes on. All the arts forms can mix. Which means certain art forms can blur the boundaries.
Films in specific can Blur the boundaries in terms of style/genre in comparison to other films. They don’t just come under one category they come under multiple. Also, films that break the conventional creations of a film is also blurring the boundaries. These are usually the artistic films that take creative risks. Films that are also innovators of things that have influence film such as “Planet of the apes” and its selling of merchandise are also films that blur the boundaries.
