1. EXT. SHERMER HIGH SCHOOL - DAY

During Brian's monologue, we see various views of
things
inside the school including Bender's locker.

 BRIAN (VO)
 Saturday...March 24, 1984. Shermer
 High School, Shermer, Illinois.
 60062. Dear Mr. Vernon...we accept
the fact that we had to sacrifice a
 whole Saturday in detention for
whatever it was that we did wrong,
what we did was wrong. But we think
you're crazy to make us write this
essay telling you who we think we
are, what do you care? You see us
as you want to see us...in the
 simplest terms and the most
 convenient definitions. You see us
as a brain, an athelete, a basket
case, a princess and a criminal.
Correct? That's the way we saw each
other at seven o'clock this morning.
 We were brainwashed

I wasn’t in the group at first but as I was ill, I offered to edit a version of it. The breakfast club is a great film that’s starts with a good opening that was easy to replicate with a voice over. The memo of the film is that you should never judge a book by its cover which is what our whole group felt was a good message to portray for this small project. This was hard as I was given clips to put together, but I didn’t know which order was best and to make sure that the audio/ monologue went well with what I edited. When I edited together, I tried to show a progression of the school so that it shows the character moving through and show their adventure in a chronological order. There was a lot of miscommunication and if the communication was better, we would’ve been able to progress faster and allow me to work better so that they could catch me up on what had happened.

There were many decisions I could’ve made but I chose to stay with the group so that I could show that I had improved my editing to show I could edit together a film with audio and show that I could use dissolves where they would mean something instead of doing it for every edit. If i were to do this again, I would be the cinematographer as i think that there could be many things that could’ve been done to intrigue the watchers like closeups and shots that go along with the audio.
