Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. The shot is heavily used by the Coen brothers as seen below
The 180 degree rule explains that by keeping the camera on one side of an imaginary axis between two characters, the first character is always frame right of the second character
A master shot is a film recording of an entire dramatized scene, from start to finish, from an angle that keeps all the players in view.
My favorite film score is from ET (1982, by Steven Spielberg) Not only is the music catchy and lively, but it represents the magical and unique themes within the film. The soundtrack is compromised of 8 tracks, all of which bring something different to the film.
Composer John Williams won his forth academy award from the soundtrack, and although it was classical it blended genres because it represented the variety of themes prominent in the film
My favourite movie score is fron The Man from U.N.C.LE (2015 , directed by Guy Ritchie) because it uses unconventional instruments , such as guitars – the score was composed by Daniel Pemberton . There are obvoius paralells between this score and the score for James Bond( it is a spy movie set in the 60s after all) but I like this score because it is completly distinct from it and it higtens the impact of the action scenes and makes them seem thrilling and I really liked how the score embodied the time period that the film was set in (the 1960’s) and how it seemed to be authentic to the time period as there is no music included in the film that wouldn’t have been played in the 60’s.
The score is unique and althogh it was ment to reference movies in the 1960’s that had similar scores , it is very distinct nowadays , as that type of music is not as common in films anymore , so the expectations of the younger audience members would be challanged ,that is what this score did for me. Additionally , as the score is so unusual it allowed me to actually listen to it and appriciate it because I was so used to hearing orchestral music in film , I didn’t really pay that much attention to it and this score is so different that it made me pay attention to the music.
An establishing shot is usually the first shot of a new scene, designed to show the audience where the action is taking place. It is usually a very wideshot or extreme wide shot.
Is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other.
That was a sequence of shot – reverse shots, it helps show dialogue between multiple – in this case two – people.
Firstly an establishing shot was used to show the scene and introduce the characters, then i went straight onto the dialogue shots.
Additionally i could have used a master shot which is a a film recording of a entire scene – usually a long take – which can also double as an establishing shot.
180 degrees rule – A cinematography guideline in which a scene with two characters should maintain the same left/right relationship to one another.

Alan Silvestri deserves more recognition as one of the best film composers of all time by the films he has been apart of and what they would of been without his music. His work includes Back to the Future Trilogy, the first two Predator films, three marvel films, Forest Gump and many more iconic movies. All those would be missing something without his music. Back to the Future music is definitely one of best soundtracks off all time by how fun and futuristic it feels in that movie.
Ennio Morricone themes for Sergio Leone are I what I beleive make him iconic. Him and Bill Conti (composer for Rocky) are the only film composers what have made genre defining themes. His work on the Dollar trilogy has made his soundtrack what anyone thinks of when watching a Western. His soundtracks feel like they belong in every film he composes in, and the Western genre would feel as if it was missing something without his iconic pieces.
John Williams, improves the movie by his music giving even more character to characters in the film such as Star Wars where he gives each of the main characters, planets, interactions and factions there own theme. Examples of this is the Darth Vader theme for character, to the dual of heroes for interactions, Binary sunset for Tantoine and the Imperial march for the Empire. All what he does in his films adds another layer what makes you understand the movie even better. The fact he is able to make the themes belong in a sci-fi film is quite incredible as well, as he doesn’t try and make it feel like Blade Runner or Back to the Future where the sound feels out of this time.
